Outdoor Exploration & Snack
The children will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of outdoor physical activities, ranging from exploring the sandbox, shoveling, climbing, participating in structured games and exploring the woods behind the school. On most days, children will spend the majority of their morning outdoors. Classroom materials are offered in the outdoor setting.
Snack - A nutritious snack served family style will be provided. The children will be encouraged to serve themselves snack and take responsibility for cleaning up their space. This particular time of the day provides a marvelous opportunity for children to socialize, as well as support independence and self-help skills.
Work Time – Children are given choices of centers that encourage active participation. Such centers include activities within the realm of art, pretend play, writing, block building, sensory, science, literature, music and manipulatives. The children can move around the room freely, and at their own pace.

We end our morning by discussing our experiences and adventures of the day and saying goodbye to our half-day friends. Snack is served outdoor, weather permitting.
Lunch - Children join the upper grades for lunch. They may bring a lunch from home or purchase a hot lunch.
Rest Time - Children will spend this time quietly resting on a cot. Writing materials, books and Legos will be available for children to quietly use while resting.
*Afternoon activities will include opportunities for work time, outdoor play, small group projects and specials, such as music, physical education and library.
